Coming Attractions

See that picture? It was taken September 2 on the grounds of the Chetola Resort in Blowing Rock. It's a sure sign that North Carolina's spectacular fall color is on the way!

Forecasting the "when and where" of fall color is an inexact science at best, but the experts seem to be saying that so far, everything's lining up for a great season. A nice spring bloom, decent rainfall during the summer months and the gradual cooling of temperatures that NC experienced last week all seem to be setting the stage for a colorful display, starting in just a few weeks at the highest elevations of places like Mount Mitchell and Grandfather Mountain.

That's also when VisitNC will begin its annual tracking of peak fall foliage as it marches its way down the mountains, into the foothills and Piedmont, and onto the coastal plain. North Carolina's fall color usually lasts through Thanksgiving, so there will be plenty of fall color to talk about... along with the amazing fall fishing that happens along NC's coastal waters and a long list of fun fall events. Plus, there will be six weeks of giveaways, culminating in a grand prize trip to Raleigh that includes gourmet food, a symphony performance, golf, and a stay at the Umstead Hotel and Spa!

So be sure and check out North Carolina Dreams In Color when it debuts on VisitNC September 20. Let the fall fun begin!
